The world is my oyster
A twisted quote of Shakespeare

How interesting it is, the discovery that I made about the title of this blog's paper.
Frankie Goes to Hollywood
I first heard those words in 1984, pronounced by Holly Johnson at the very middle of the eponymous first track of Frankie Goes to Hollywood debut album, Welcome To The Pleasuredome.
I've been remembering those words for 40 years now, and the subsequent Holly Johnson's laugh on the track.
Several explanation for Shakespeare's quote
I am laughing too now, upon getting to know that those words are derived from a William Shakespeare's quote, "The world's mine oyster", Sir John Falstaff's verse in The Merry Wives of Windsor comedy.
Among the different explanation that are proposed for the derived quote, my favourite is the one saying that, like an oyster is difficult to open, life can be hard; for those who keep trying, the pearl in the shell can be such a great reward.
Another explanation comes from the online Cambridge dictionary, which provides a a meaning for the idiom, that one can do what they want or go where they want.
The "world" category
For this "world" category in my blog, I pretend to explore topics from the geographical point of view.
I wrote the very first paper of my blog, in the perspective of my forthcoming visit to Taipei, at the occasion of the Computex 2024 edition from June 4th to 7th.
Even though I am rather an international person, I am not travelling abroad intensively. I'll take my inspiration from other places in my residence country France, zooming to my region, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, my department of the Bouches-du-Rhône and my city of Marseille.
Feeling cultural or linguistic proximity
Since the digital world offers more ways to explore subjects from the other side of the world, I won't miss the opportunity to explore other places in the world, starting from countries and places with which I have or feel cultural or linguistic proximity.
The places that I feel culturally and linguistically close to will include Estonia, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Switzerland, Senegal, Portugal, United Kingdom, Taiwan, to name a few. Actually, it will be difficult also to miss any country of the world, where I would find a subject close to my preoccupations, that I would be happy to share with you.
If any subjects triggers your will to share your points of view, I'll be happy to discuss and try to enrich them on LinkedIn.
